Het grote voordeel van fietsen in de regen.

The big advantage of cycling in the rain.

Our own (cycling) experience in the rain:

The roads are becoming increasingly busy and the risk of traffic jams , even in small villages, is increasing.
Sometimes a simple car journey, such as taking the children to school, can easily take 45 minutes. You drive to school at a walking pace, everyone following each other.

And then the parking problem, normally it is busy to park at a large school.
But parking your car at school in the rain is simply chaos, as is finding a way out to get to work on time.

As a father of four, I therefore put the children in their rain suits , and I am provided with the following:

As a (rain)coat I wear the Tanta Cel in the orange color Harvest Pumpkin.

When it is a bit colder I wear an InnerJacket from AGU underneath.

My gloves are Rains Gloves. That's nice, because with rain and then wind, you are more likely to have cold hands when you cycle.

I wear the AGU Go over my pants, these are affordable rain pants that are easy to put on and also fold up small.

When it rains really hard, I have the Bikeboots from AGU for my shoes.

During the dark days of the year, I use a reflective vest to stand out extra.

To complete my story, the bike ride to school ultimately took 20 minutes and delivered four dry, happy children to the teacher. It is sometimes necessary to weave around the stationary cars, but we take that for granted.

And while enjoying a delicious cup of coffee, I think of those other parents who are probably still stuck in traffic...

However, in addition to these advantages of cycling in the rain, I would also like to mention a number of other advantages:

1. Strengthens the immune system: Cycling (in the rain) can strengthen your immune system, you expose your body to different temperatures and weather conditions.
2. Good for the skin: Rainwater can refresh your skin, which contributes to healthier skin.
3. Less crowds on the cycle path: Significantly fewer people cycle in the rain, which means you can cycle more quietly and enjoy yourself more.
4. Natural cooling: Cycling can be cooling on hot days, but also after a day of working within 4 walls.
5. Mental relaxation: The sound of raindrops can be relaxing and soothing.
6. Improved concentration: Cycling in the rain requires more attention and concentration, which automatically improves your reaction time and alertness.
7. Environmentally friendly: Cycling is an environmentally friendly mode of transportation, and by cycling instead of using the car, you reduce the environmental footprint, even on rainy days.

Will you enjoy cycling next time it rains? Then think again about the above benefits when you cycle past all those stationary cars!
